Q. Is there an age limit and do I have to be at university?
A. Providing you are 18 or over, you can enter.
We accept entries whether you are at university or not but, if you have already left, you must have started your own business within two years of leaving, calculated from the start of the competition on 17th September 2007.
Q. Do I have to be trading?
A. No, you may enter your business idea if you are still at university or if you’ve come up with it within two years of leaving, calculated from the start of the competition on 17th September 2007.
Q. Do I have to be an EU citizen to enter?
A. Yes, Unipreneurs is only open to EU citizens attending a UK university. You may also enter within two years of leaving a UK university, providing you are domiciled in the UK and your business is registered in the UK.
Q. What financial information should I include?
A. The judges want to understand your business, so please submit as much financial detail as you can – examples could include accounts, business plans or venture proposals.
Q. Does my business have to be profitable?
A. No, the judges appreciate new businesses don’t always go into profit straightaway.
Q. I am worried about revealing my business idea in case someone nicks it.
A. You should seek professional advice before entering if you are concerned about Intellectual Property Rights.
Q. Does it matter if I have shareholders in my business?
A. No, but the majority of shares must be held by you and/or your business partner(s).
Q. How do I know if I get through the various stages of the competition?
A. We contact everyone who enters, advising them of their progress at each stage and whether they have been successful or not.
